Introduction To Termites

The Eastern Subterranean termite is the most common termite found in the Northeast. They live in colonies under ground because they have a low tolerance for air and light. Termites require moisture and their sole source of food is cellulose from wood. According to the United States Department of Agriculture, they cause over $2,000,000,000 in damage in the United States per year. Because of their cryptic nature, structural infestations of subterranean termites are usually not visible. Most people become aware of an infestation when annual flights of winged termites (often called swarmers) occur in structures. After indoor flights, most swarmers are found dead near windows or in sinks and bath tubs. Subterranean termites form a network of interconnected feeding sites beneath or above the soil surface. A single colony of may contain 60,000 - 1,000,000 termites and forage up to 150 feet in search of food. Termites consume wood at the rate of 2 to 3% of their body weight each day. When subterranean termites search for food above ground, they may enter a house through small cracks or joints in the foundation, or by building shelter tubes along the foundation wall. These tubes are highways connecting the underground termite population with above ground food sources. Over the last several years, non-repellent termiticides like Termidor(fipronil) & Phantom (chlorfenapyr)have been introduced. This is good for us and not for them.

Termidor utilizes a unique action known as the "Transfer Effect™" to effectively control termite populations up to six times faster than bait systems. And, unlike older liquids, Termidor does not repel termites—termites can't smell, see or feel the termiticide—so they crawl freely through treated areas. When a termite eats or even comes in contact with the termiticide, it unknowingly transfers Termidor back to the colony on its body. Every termite it contacts will transfer Termidor to other termites. Termidor is the only product that will consistently control 100% of termites within three months or less!

Both ants and termites have two pairs of wings, but ants’ wings are different sizes while the termites’ wings are all the same size. Also, ants have narrowed waists and elbowed antennae while termites have thick waists and short, straight antennae that resemble strings of beads. Don’t be fooled by color or size. Ants can vary in size, and winged termites can be brown or black like ants.

Termidor wipes out 100% of Termites
in 3 months or less. Period.

Termite Solutions

All-Star Pest Services has a solution for every termite problem and we will find a way to make it affordable for almost everybody. For conventional treatments, we dig a trench (about 4"- 6" deep and wide) around the perimeter of your home and drill patios, porches, plumbing, and electrical drops so that we can saturate the soil with termiticide. The termiticide bonds with the soil to give you a treated zone at all potential entry points. At a minimum, we can do a spot treatment in the affected area and a exterior perimeter treatment with Termidor or Phantom that will kill those termites pretty quick. That will also kill any other termites that happen into the treated zone. Sometimes there are special circumstances, sensitive situations or simply because our customers request us to use a baiting program. We prefer to use Termidor or Phantom but when we need to bait, we use the best baiting program in the market hands down! Termiticide that termites have to eat spread through their colony by trophylaxis (they feed one another by oral and anal excretions) and it can take a long time to control termites that way. We offer the Advance Termite Bait System. This is how the Advance Termite Bait System works:

• Bait stations will be installed around the perimeter of your home.
• The stations will be checked regularly for termite activity or quarterly at a minimum.
• When termites are found in a station, the Termite Inspection Cartridge, containing no active ingredient, is replaced with a termite bait cartridge with active ingredient so termites can start feeding on the bait.
• As termites feed and then travel back to the colony, they share termite bait with other nest mates and send other termites back to feed on the bait. As feeding on the bait continues and more termites are affected, the termite colony starts to die and is eliminated.
• After a colony is eliminated, the bait will be replaced with new termite inspection cartridges. All-Star will continue to inspect these regularly to discover new colonies that might invade your property.

A FREE Termite Inspection from All-Star will prevent this from happening.
